Several men were struggling to restrain Javier Ramirez, 26, when police arrived at the 11:51 p.m. call, according to a Fremont police report.

“Officers then attempted to intervene and the matter quickly escalated,” Officer Brian Kingsborough wrote in his report.

Ramirez became more aggressive, and as officers tried to pull him from the SUV where he’d been restrained, he struggled with Kingsborough, the report said.

A second man, Antonio Gonzalez, 21, also jumped in to try to help Javier Ramirez. Other officers arrested Gonzalez for resisting arrest, and Ramirez for assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Carlos Ramirez, 27, was charged with obstructing official business.
