A train soon came along and made short work of the Buick Rendezvous, which is now burned and mangled. The 18-year-old woman was not injured.

The woman was driving the car on U.S. 6 when at about 10:30 p.m. she tried to make a U-turn at Cleveland Road and Perkins Avenue. When the car stuck on the tracks, however, the woman got out and walked away.

The train struck the car, pushing it about 200 feet and causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Erie County deputies and firefighters from Huron and Huron Township went to the scene at about 10:30 p.m. Deputies soon found the woman walking nearby.

Her name was not immediately available, but deputies said alcohol is likely a factor and the woman is being taken to the county jail. Charges are pending.

Glad she is ok,, but stupid!!!!!!!!!! Did she already have her Frosty or was she going back to get it?

Of course the train slammed into it. That's what they do. Have you ever heard of a train gently nudging a vehicle?

Headline makes train seem at fault. Perhaps - Woman pulls in front of train?

I don't think it reads that way at all

The train is never at fault when dealing with crossings...only when their own train cars derail and block crossings is when the train is blamed
