A masked man robbed three people at gunpoint Wednesday morning in the 6000 block of County Road 219 in York Township, according to Sandusky County deputies.

No was injured and the robber made off with about $210.

With few leads, deputies are now working to identify the suspect, described as a 5-foot-10 white man driving a dark-colored SUV, a deputy's report said.

The victims — two women and a man — heard a knock at the door around 4 a.m.

The man answered the door and "observed the suspect brandishing what he believed to be a 12-gauge shotgun,” the report said.

The suspect, wearing a “Halloween” mask and a stocking cap, ordered the three victims to give up the cash. After they did so, he locked them in a back bedroom, the report said.

One of the victims squeezed through a window, then dashed to a neighbor’s house and called 911.

The suspect fled south on Sandusky County Road 288 in a dark-colored SUV.

Deputies asked Clyde and Bellevue police to keep an eye out for the vehicle, but in the end the suspect escaped. Anyone with information call deputies at 419-332-2613.

What if one has no window? -- peepholes are pretty worthless most especially on an outside door. Yes, folks, some apartments and other dwellings are like that. Believe it or not

4 a.m. people???...who answers their door at 4 a.m. without searching for an identity???, among any other time of a 24 hour period. This day and age seems run by hooligans and illegal intent, and if you don't put up the proper security measures, makes YOU responsible for the outcome.

I live out that way and this idiot drove by my house. Sad that you aren't safe in your homes anymore. I hope they catch who ever it was before they try again. I too wouldn't open the door at 4am. Crooks taking things from people who work hard for what they have. Times are rough everywhere, for everyone. Whatever happened to hard-working honest people?

There are many elderly people in this world who still believe in the good in people. I have an older sister who would have done this just because she would have thought someone needed help. What a sad world we live in.

It is dumb to open the door for anyone that you do not know or you are not expecting. Who opens the door at 4 am in the country? When you speak of personal responsibility, remember that you are responsible for your safety and that of your family. The police are miles away so help YOURSELF. The life you save may be your own. Watch the show Panic 911 and you will see exactly what I mean!
