FREMONT

The father of a man who died while in police custody has taken his civil rights complaint to the U.S. District Court in Toledo.

The federal lawsuit comes after Jess Burdine, father of the late Craig Burdine, 37, withdrew his suit from Sandusky County Common Pleas Court after months of waiting for action in the case.

That suit requested a court order to force Sandusky County coroner John Wukie to change the cause of Craig Burdine’s August 2007 death from “accidental due to drug-induced excited delirium” to “homicide.”
