A deep-rooted motorcycle shop operates more like a co-op or wholesale operation — think Sam’s Club or Costco — than a for-profit biking business.

M&M Cycles, dubbed the area’s mom-and-pop motorcycle shop, offers major discounts for purchases to any and all of their 25,000-plus customers, spanning from the local area to around the world, headquartered in Margaretta Township.

“We use our buying power to maximize discounts and then pass those discounts onto the customer,” M&M Cycles owner and CEO Mark Kammer said. “Everything here is bought and paid for without any debt. We are buying stuff at cheaper prices than anyone else can in town from the same suppliers.”

Among the most popular brands bikers buy at M&M Cycles: used Harley-Davidsons and new Hyosung motorcycles.

Rather than pocketing profits, Mark and his wife, Linda, apply a decades-old philosophy they learned from George Roeder.

“Take care of the rider, and the rider will take care of your checkbook,” said Mark, who worked for roughly six years as a parts manager for Roeder Harley-Davidson in Monroeville. “We are truly a customer-is-never-wrong operation. If it wasn’t for the Roeders, none of us would exist. I wouldn’t be here. They supported me when I went out on my own. We got a damn good education and a working philosophy from them.”

Customers also frequently pop into the store, located across the street Erie Blacktop, to chit-chat with staffers or pet Sarah, the Kammers spunky malshi.

Mark also provides a pitch to people who have never visited his store.

“I’m a pretty nice guy,” Mark said, laughing. “You can’t beat our price or our service.”
