Danny Boy’s is back, and it’s more original than ever. Rob and Renee Grendow, the founders of the Danny Boy’s in Rocky River, are re-opening the restaurant that operated for years at 6207 Milan Road.

Ed Hoty operated a Danny Boy’s in Sandusky since May 2006, but he chose to let a franchise agreement with the Grendows expire. In January, Hoty opened Weezy’s restaurant at the Milan Road location, but after about a year the restaurant closed.   On Nov. 1, the Grendows took over the location and re-opened it as Danny Boy’s.

“We know how well Danny Boy’s can do in Sandusky,” Rob said. “We’re excited to be back.”

The Grendows, who opened the first Danny Boy’s Italian Eatery 23 years ago in Rocky River, plan to operate the local restaurant with some familiar faces. They’ll employ existing staff as well as adding a few new workers, and they’re still accepting applications for people with restaurant experience.

The core menu, of course, includes the classic Danny Boy’s offerings of pizza and pasta.

“But there are some exciting additions people will enjoy,” Rob said.

The restaurant is also getting a facelift to deliver a colorful, family-friendly feel, while still retaining the Sinatra “Brat Pack” theme of the original Danny Boy’s.
