Driving down Meigs Street close to the city building all that is visible are the sterns of yachts covered with plastic; I wonder what the commissioners were thinking when city residents were displaced for a boat storage yard. Now some of the commissioners are attempting to create a "Marina District" at Battery Park and surrounding areas. Did everyone forget about downtown? Sandusky with a declining population and jobs, new marina on First Street and in the west end, how marinas and condos can the city adequately support? These plans surely aren't for the majority of the city residents.

I watched as the Sandusky Sailing Club leased more land from the Battery Park area, one of the first things that they did was to erect a fence and gate surrounding the area. When the yacht club expanded, they added a fence and gate although a public pier was added as part of their break wall.

Are the commissioners going to permit the prime waterfront property to be a gated for the privileged at the public's expense?
