And the students and staff of Sandusky High School's music program did it again!. We saw these accomplished young people perform Fiddler on the Roof. Under the direction of Ron Albert, these Sandusky students were once again able to present a charming mix of acting and musical talent that has withstood the test of decades. The pit orchestra was as good as I've ever seen it, high school students and adults all working together under the baton of Brian Nitschke.

This year was a bit different though. Everyone knew it was Mr. Albert's last musical as he has announced his retirement. There was a sense of the impending change his retirement would inevitably bring. Let me put it this way ... Ron, this community and its young people will miss you. And, yes, we will continue to move forward, but it will be different. We all missed Mr. Kraus when he left, as well as Mr. Getty and Mr. Forsythe before him, too. But for those of us whose children you directed, pushed and cajoled, things will be different. So for everyone who has enjoyed your many musicals and concerts, Mr. Albert, may "The Lord bless you and keep you."
