SANDUSKY

Sandusky police are investigating a suspected stabbing that occurred Thursday evening in an apartment at 3205 W. Monroe St.

They were called out to Apartment 2, in a small complex with two wooden sail boats on the front of the building and the waters of Sandusky Bay visible from the back door.

An official mail forwarding change of address was taped to the door for a Teresa M. Baillie. She appeared to be moving into the apartment that day.

Scanner radio traffic indicated the victim was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with a stab wound to the stomach, possibly inflicted by a kitchen knife.

Lt. Robert VanScoy confirmed police were investigating a possible stabbing but had no further information late Thursday night.

Neighbor Mark Rusincovitch said he didn’t hear anything at the apartment and was unaware anything had happened until police cruisers arrived shortly before 7:30 p.m.

He said he saw police escorting a crying woman from the apartment and placing her into the back of a police cruiser.

“She looked pretty distraught,” he said.

He said police have been called out to the area frequently.
