Sandusky Maritime Museum's annual Big Splash Raffle takes place Saturday at Sandusky Bay Pavilion.
"This is a major fundraiser for the museum," stated David Belvins, President of the Sandusky Maritime Museum. "It allows us to operate. We've raised over a million dollars in 10 years."
Festivities began Friday night, with the Bash Before the Splash event, featuring live music from Venyx, as well as 50/50 raffles, food, beer, and two Big Splash winners selected.
Jenny Althaus of Port Clinton won $2,000 at the first Big Splash drawing at 7:30 p.m. At 9:30 p.m., R.Ott of Bay Village won big with $10,000.
The Big Splash Raffle main event kicks off Saturday at noon, and will last until 5 p.m. $250,000 in cash and prizes will be given away, as well as Harley Davidsons, a Ford F150, a Ford Mustang, a Jeep Wrangler and a four-wheeler. Winners will be drawn 10 minutes through the course of the day.
“We will have lotto balls picking the winners,” said Annette Wells, Executive Director of the Sandusky Maritime Museum. “It is basically the Sandusky version of Cash Explosion.”
To be eligible to win any of the Big Splash prizes you must buy a $100 Big Splash ticket. If you want to attend the event, and not be eligible for the Big Splash prizes, admission is free.
Ticket holders can win more than once; all proceeds from the event benefit the Sandusky Maritime Museum.
