A Market Street man's shoe collection was cleaned out over the weekend in an apparent burglary.

It was about 1:30 a.m. Saturday when a man who lives in the 700 block of W. Market Street told police his home had been entered.

The man noticed his door was kicked in and his residence ransacked — trash was dumped on the floor, kitchen drawers stood open and his bathroom and bedroom had been rummaged through, according to a Sandusky police report.

A MacBook Pro, a 55-inch and 32-inch TV, a fire-proof safe containing all his receipts and at least $200, a set of surround-sound speakers, and about 50 DVDs were stolen.

The man also kept 24 pairs of shoes lined up all in a row by his door, with each pair worth at least $100. The burglar had stolen every last pair, the man told police.

“The only shoes remaining in the house were the shoes on (the man's) feet,” an officer wrote in his report.
