UPDATE 2:38 p.m. — Cedar Point's response to the LeBron James announcement, via Twitter:

Welcome home, ! What happens next at Cedar Point? Stay tuned!

Original story —

Sports Illustrated is reporting that LeBron James will be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In a post titled "I'm Coming Home," James writes:

"Before anyone ever cared where I would play basketball, I was a kid from Northeast Ohio. It’s where I walked. It’s where I ran. It’s where I cried. It’s where I bled. It holds a special place in my heart. People there have seen me grow up. I sometimes feel like I’m their son. Their passion can be overwhelming. But it drives me. I want to give them hope when I can. I want to inspire them when I can. My relationship with Northeast Ohio is bigger than basketball. I didn’t realize that four years ago. I do now."

Check back for more updates later.

Yeah, I read this earlier on the Norwalk Reflector's website.

Since CP is renaming a coaster, I wonder if Tofts will rename their chocolate ice cream? I'll take a double scoop of Lebron James...

I just love how the Register Staff will remove any comment on these stories that they either don't agree with or that they deem to be "picking fights, name calling, using racist remarks, etc. etc. etc.," but here this comment remains, an obvious RACIST comment, days after it was posted, and Register staff has done NOTHING about it even though it was reported as inappropriate! Good job monitoring your newspaper commenting area Matt Westerhold and staff!! Sickening that people are still so racist this day in age, even more sickening that it's blatantly done, and then when pointed out by someone, nothing is done about it!!! Sad!!

Welcome Back Lebron!! Great for Cleveland! Great for Lebron!

Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! It can't be true! I feel the same as Chris Matthews did during the Presidents' speech...is that a thrill going up my leg??? Nah, prolly not.

Great for Cleveland!

Great for die hard Cleveland sports fans!

We are witnessing the rebirth of Cleveland!!

He dont deserve the loyalty you sports fans show him . He left once and no one can be sure he wont leave again . Only time can tell.

And that's different from the loyalty or commitment in any other relationship how? If we all wanted to be completely sure of everyone every day, we'd all live our lives alone. And really, who wants that?

James is an incredibly talented ballplayer, and Cleveland is lucky to get him back. He's also (hopefully) matured over the last few years away. Everybody makes mistakes; most of us learn from them. The only childish people here and now are those who won't even consider forgiveness!

I actually read an article that said he did a lot of growing up in Miami. He said that Miami was like college to him and that he didn't realize how much Northeast Ohio meant to him, in more than a basketball sense. He said he definitely isnt the same person that left 4 years ago. But who knows..could all just be talk too...

What? Seriously?

Only several million people care. Just because you don't care doesn't mean others also don't care.

So what if millions care about this news. Millions voted for Obama, hows that change working out for you.

TV8 is making him out to be some kind of messiah, for what, putting a ball in a hoop? Seriously? I think the young man helping his elderly neighbor is more impressive than a giant who can walk up and drop a ball through a metal ring.

You clowns forgot that he is married, has children, is from Ohio and has done more the Akron area than anyone else in the recent past. He has given away millions and has done a ton of charity work. Haters gonna hate.

Talk about tingles up your leg!? Cleveland with La Bron and the Republican convention!!!

"I never realized how much Northern Ohio means to me!"
If thats true then why was he playing Miami and Cleveland against each other.

Keep being excited about a clown living in a 35,000 sq ft home who throws a ball, it reflects more of what society has lowered itself too, making a game more important than things that really matter.

Dr. Information

"a clown"? No that would be u Truth2u. Haters gonna hate.

Pro sports are a commercial sham. Man throws ball. We open wallets. We buy logo. Logo makes us proud! GO Bean

From the Grave

Kind of like religion...

What sport do you think he plays? What ball does he throw?

A humble return. Welcome back Lebron.

People sure have short memories. At least some of you them anyway.
He more or less told Cleveland to take a flyin f***.
Now he says he will grace us with his greatness.
Whoppe-de-frecken ding.
Who cares?
Am really sick of hearing about this clown, he's not that special.
The clown running Cedar Point is now selling out and giving this self appointed minor god free reign here. Tell you what, they're both from Florida. Why don't both of you go back and stay there and mess up Disney World instead.
Looking for a new team and another amusment park that is not overpriced like CP has become.

Long ago I learned to cheer for the jersey and not the body that fills it. Players come and players go but the jersey remains. James coming back gives my favorite Basketball jersey a better chance of the championship. If he brings a championship to Cleveland he will be remembered as on of the greatest to have put on any Cleveland jersey, I'm sure hoping he does.

I will do the same post as I did in the other article in SR. Save this statement to your hard drives as a reminder when it happens: Lebron James will find a way to make Cav's fans and the city of Cleveland make them hate him again!
