Erie County deputies are investigating the death of a Groton Township man, citing possible suspicious circumstances.

Investigators went to a home in the 7400 block of Billings Road on Sunday about 10 a.m. after they learned a 33-year-old man had died there overnight or early that morning, Erie County Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said.

The man, who lived at the address, was discovered in extremely suspicious circumstances, Oliver said.

Though deputies declined to comment further, they did say an investigation is underway.

Deputies spoke with the man's relatives on Sunday, who also live at the home, and are still in the process of finding other family members, Oliver said.

The man's body was sent to the Lucas County Coroner's office for an autopsy Tuesday morning, the results of which will likely inform deputies of any criminal aspect to the case, Oliver said.
