I think the government should make school buses have mandatory seatbelts. They would make school buses a lot safer. Everyone thinks the high seats make buses safer, but they don't. Not in a roll-over accident, especially. In a regular head-on accident, the high, hard seats cause children to get head and neck injuries. An average of 11 children die, each year, because there are no seatbelts. If buses had seatbelts, the children would stay in place.

New York and New Jersey make seatbelts mandatory on school buses. Why only two states? Why not all 50 states? The seatbelts would not only keep children safe, they could provide buses with less fighting and physical contact, a quieter trip and less confusion and distractions for drivers. Seatbelts are a great idea and should be placed on all the school buses in every state.
