Huron police Sgt. Terry Graham said police are transporting the girls to Huron and will provide additional information when it's available.

Update 9 a.m. — Sandusky police are attempting to identify and locate teenagers two missing girls were reportedly with before they went missing, Sandusky police chief John Orzech said this morning.

"They are supposed to be hanging out with them, or possibly could be with them," Orzech said.

Meanwhile a search and rescue team out of Delaware, Ohio, issued an alert for the two missing girls this morning.

Headline: Two 13-year-olds go missing
— They went to Ohio Bike Week on Saturday

Two teenagers went missing Saturday after saying they were going to a friend's house but went to Sandusky for Ohio Bike Week in a taxi instead.

Huron police and the Sandusky police departments have scoured locations where the girls might have gone, but as of this morning they had not been located.

Zoe Koehler and Maggie Freeman, both 13, were staying at a grandmother's house. They said they were going to a friend's house, but instead the girls and a friend took a taxi to Sandusky, police said. The friend called for a ride home, but Koehler and Freeman remained downtown.

The last communication from the girls was to a friend via Snapchat at about midnight, and a cell phone locator placed them in Sandusky at 1:21 a.m., police said.

Koehler was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt with a print. Freeman was wearing jeans with a light plum shirt.

Anyone with information on the girls is asked to call Sandusky police at 419-627-5863 or Huron police at 419-433-4114.

So glad to see the girls were found. I'm sure their loved ones are torn between wanting to hug them in pure relief, and wanting to choke them...

Julie R.

I would be tempted to choke them.

That said, obviously these kids are from Huron.

Informed

That is highly insulting to the rest of the kids from Huron, the vast majority of whom are great kids. Heck, about 90% of each graduating class goes on to college. Get over your hatred of all people in Huron.

Licorice Schtick

Uh-huh. Supposed to insult Sandusky, not Huron, right?

Informed

No, don't insult people as a whole from anywhere. There are lots of good kids in every town.

Julie R.

Duh, the reason I said "obviously the girls are from Huron" is because the updated article says the police were transporting the girls to Huron.

Once again, DUH.

Informed

I apologize if I took what you said the wrong way, but in your past statements you often insult Huron.
But you don't need to be so snarky.

VeggieGirl

Julie, I don't understand the "obviously these girls are from Huron" comment. "Obviously" because they are acting out, and only Huron kids do that? Or don't you think that Huron parents feel that hug them/choke them reaction when their kids behave badly?

Julie R.

@VeggieGirl: Once again, DUH. The reason I said "obviously these girls are from Huron" is because the updated article mentions the Huron police and the girls being transported to Huron. (btw, I live in Huron)

Agreed. However, would add that a cynical tourism oriented community with low standards (e.g. Gorilla with dildo) and expectations are contributing factors.

Why is it never the guilty ones fault. Always blame someone else? This is what is wrong with kids today. Noone takes responsibility. There are MANY mothers that have no help from their children's fathers or the families. Do not place blame on that. Make the kids accountable for their actions. Do not give them excuses. Make them own their actions. This child has been allowed to run wild and knows that someone will always make excuses for her and blame someone else for her behavior.

Exactly correct!

SamAdams

I totally agree. No single woman could POSSIBLY be aware enough, selfless enough, or strong enough to raise a child that isn't a hoodlum. No single woman has ever, in fact, managed to do so, and all bad kids come from such homes. Every one of them! < /sarcasm off>

Dick Tracey is right. Being a decent parent is hard work (which may explain why so many can't be bothered). But being a decent parent isn't dependent on ex-husbands, either! Sure, it's harder alone (isn't everything?). And yet plenty of divorcees and widows manage to do a great job parenting.

"Tries her best" is nothing but an excuse, and so is blaming somebody else.

Babo

Thankfully these girls are OK. They both need serious help and time in juvenile court and detention for their actions.

Factitious

No end to conclusions without the annoying inconvenience of facts.

William Jeffers...

VERY Glad they are safe, but upon their arrests they go from missing children to juvenile criminals and those photos in cuffs are questionable.

Informed

And they should. Minors cannot go missing on purpose with no accountability to anyone.

Babo

I'm guessing the poster meant that posting pictures of minors' arrest may be a questionable invasion of privacy or in poor taste. For example, rather than being ashamed these girls may be pleased with the attention.

Kottage Kat

Thank God they are found and safe.

Licorice Schtick

...and that may be the last we hear of it.

The appropriate action will be decided upon, once the facts are in, through due process. Most of us won't be a part of that.

Glad they're OK

On one hand, I am glad that these two were found safe.

On the other hand, the one holding a leather belt, these two would get the a$$ whooping they need to get their act in line!! Actually one for every act they did wrong since Saturday when they lied to Grandma about where they were going until today when they were found.

If the one girl says she likes it in the DH then put her there and throw away the key. She's too old now to try and start disciplining because she's had free reign for too long but I certainly would make her think twice about leaving again....

jadenicole3

Mimi...first of all I do know how to read. Maybe you need to learn how to interpret. I was simply making my own statement in saying I wouldn't allow my daughter to go down to bike week. I never once said anything about grandmother, mother, father or any other of these girls family members ALLOWING or giving these girls permission to go there. You might want to think before you speak. There always has to be one person in the crowd looking to argue. Lol

jadenicole3

So glad they were found and safe!

powerhouser

Now that it a criminal case, not a missing persons shouldn't their pictures and names be removed from paper ? Or will Register start putting pictures/names of all juveniles in paper now ?
