Headline: Two 13-year-olds go missing
— They went to Ohio Bike Week on Saturday

Two teenagers went missing Saturday after saying they were going to a friend's house but went to Sandusky for Ohio Bike Week in a taxi instead.

Huron police and the Sandusky police departments have scoured locations where the girls might have gone, but as of this morning they had not been located.

Zoe Koehler and Maggie Freeman, both 13, were staying at a grandmother's house. They said they were going to a friend's house, but instead the girls and a friend took a taxi to Sandusky, police said. The friend called for a ride home, but Koehler and Freeman remained downtown.

The last communication from the girls was to a friend via Snapchat at about midnight, and a cell phone locator placed them in Sandusky at 1:21 a.m., police said.

Koehler was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt with a print. Freeman was wearing jeans with a light plum shirt.

Anyone with information on the girls is asked to call Sandusky police at 419-627-5863 or Huron police at 419-433-4114.

LEAVE IT TO THE SANDUSKY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SCREW THIS UP BY NO AMBER ALERT. DID'T THEY SCREW UP THAT ABDUCTION AMBER ALERT IN 2008.FROM THE NEWS REPORT BACK THEN IT TOOK SPD 19 MONTHS TO LIST THE CHILD INTO THE DATA BASE... WAY TO GO SPD

mimi's word

So you will be joining the force since you know how to do their job so much better correct?

Licorice Schtick

Leave it to clueless shrieking idiots to blame the police without the benefit of facts.

If an Amber Alert were issued for every teenager who failed to check in, you'd get dozens daily, all ignored.

JohnDorian12

Blaming the police?? Really?? Don't use this article as a stage for your personal attacks...I'm sure whatever they did that made you bitter was justified just by reading some of your childish rants

whatsyourissue

No matter the circumstances, I hope these young ladies are found quickly. I can't even phathom how sick with worry their families are.

New mom

Spd didn't screw up an amber alert know what you are talking about before you open your mouth...

sandusky2012

New mom yes they did I bet they didn't even enter the children immediately into The NCIC data base....
http://www.missingkids.com/en_US...
"Verify, through the investigating law-enforcement agency, that information about your
missing child has been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Missing
Person File. Federal law2
requires law enforcement to enter information about a missing
child into NCIC no more than two hours after the receipt of the report."

I WONDER IF SPD VIOLATED THIS LAW AGAIN?
2
The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act (Pub. L. No. 109-248) mandates NCIC entry must be made by law
enforcement within two hours of receipt of a report of a missing or abducted child. This two-hour requirement
replaces the term “immediately” in the National Child Search Assistance Act (NCSAA, 42 U.S.C. §§ 5779 and 5780)."

What a douche bag!

freethinker1

Two kids unsupervised after midnight at a biker event. What could possibly go wrong?

Whiskey in a Teacup

Will they be charged for their crimes when located?

Licorice Schtick

The appropriate action will be decided upon, once the facts are in, through due process. Most of us won't be a part of that, and most likely, we won't even get to know much more than we already know.

kgilbert

Will the register update the news of there girls?

watched_ones

I don't know what would be more scary for them if they were my kids. Being kidnapped or being found and given back to me. Over all I hope they are found unharmed. Best of luck to the families.

Babo

The cruelty of many posters here never cease to amaze me. It is Monday morning; two 13 year old girls are still missing since Saturday night, and a group out of Delaware Ohio (not Sandusky their home) has issued a search alert.

They are 13 year old precious girls (not even close to adult age) who are extremely vulnerable to sexual predators. A community is supposed to protect the weak and vulnerable not derive vicarious pleasure from somebody else's worst fears and heartache.

Come on SR, please try to assist their families by publicizing search efforts or any other way concerned people can help.

.
It doesn't really say where they are from, kinda confusing. The article said they took a cab to Sandusky (suggesting they were from somewhere else) and the article mentions that Huron PD is also involved and Delaware,OH has interest in this as well.

You're right that folks need to be more sensitive to the feelings of all involved when situations like this occur. Not only are they possibly scared sick but their families as well.

Agree also. What parents would let a 13 year old take a cab to bike week?..Let alone.. a cab ANYWHERE !!

watched_ones

Well that being said the friends of these girls should be pressed for info and stop this madness before innocent time , people and resources are wasted again for children proving that they can manipulate the system and emotions of folks by doing idiotic drama filled instances like this. Authorities should go and sniff around that hell hole called Remington or maybe if the Police look real good they might be found in some back yard on Hancock having beers and a blunt.
