An early morning accident today left a 28-year-old man in critical condition after his vehicle went off the road and struck two guardrails before landing in a ravine.

Tobias J. Keegan, 28, of Clyde, was flown from the scene at Township Road 237 near County Road 268 in Townsend Township to University of Toledo Medical Center. A nursing supervisor said Saturday evening that he remained in critical condition.

Keegan was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee when he lost control of the vehicle, the Highway Patrol said.  He went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail and then went off the left side of the road and struck another guardrail.

The vehicle ended up in a ravine at the intersection, overturned.

Alcohol and speed are suspected to have contributed to the accident, the Patrol said, which remains under investigation.

Keegan was not wearing a seatbelt.
