Longtime Sandusky Library chief executive officer Julie Brooks has announced that she is retiring as the library's chief executive officer effective Dec. 1.

Brooks, who came to the library in 1977 and has been the library's leader since 1979, said she plans to stay in the area. The library board announced it has begun a national search for her replacement.

Congratulations Julie Brooks! You have done this city proud and presented literacy in such a way that it never looked better. Thanks for your service and contributions. You are true innovator.

Instead of a national search for Julie's replacement, the library board may want to hire from within the library staff to continue Julie's contributions over the years.
