Man seriously hurt in crash

A 19-year-old Bradner man was seriously injured when his pickup was struck by a tractor-trailer on U.S. 23 at U.S. 6 late Monday when the semi driver fell asleep at the wheel, according to the Fremont Post of the Highway Patrol. 

Jacob Hutson was taken to St. Vincent Medical Center. He sustained incapacitating injuries, the Patrol said.

Byron Wheeler, 55, Zanesville, was not injured.

The Patrol said Wheeler fell asleep at the wheel of his 2009 International tractor-trailer and hit Huston's 1997 Ford Ranger from behind. Huston was stopped at the light northbound on U.S. 23 when he was struck. The pickup was forced from the road and struck a sign before coming to a rest. 

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The crash remians under investigation and alcohol in not suspected, the Patrol said.
