Like much of the Midwest, Sandusky is surfing a serious heat wave.
According to the National Weather Service, residents can expect hot weather for the remainder of the week. While no temperature records have been set yet this week, Thursday’s forecast predicts it will be a scorching 98 degrees — the same temperature that sent a record high in the area in 1980.
Meteorologist Kirk Lombargy at the National Weather Service said there is no heat advisory for Erie County, but he advised against doing strenuous labor outside except during the early morning or evening hours.
Residents should drink plenty of water and find a cool place to stay to avoid health complications from the heat. By the weekend, temperatures should be back in the high 80s, Lombargy said.
