Sandusky police say they found no merit to complaints that off-duty officers harassed family members of accused cop killer Kevin Randleman.

Three months ago, Denishea George, 33, sent Sandusky police a written complaint, accusing several off-duty officers of using a racial slur and telling her to shut up.

George said she was outside her mother's home in the 800 block of Wayne Street when the officers allegedly yelled at her.

The officers had been visiting the home of Sandusky police Officer Matt Dunn, who lives nearby, according to George's complaint.

George and her mother are related to Kevin Randleman, who is accused of shooting and killing Officer Andrew Dunn, Matt's son.

The Answer Person

Gee...even if they did.  How tragic would it be to make a comment to someone's family who may or may not have murdered a person while they were working to protect the very people that ultimately do you in?

She has a point, sadly it is on the top of her head.

Denishea, SHUT UP!

Just out of curiosity --- why would the Sandusky police do the investigation into complaints about their own off-duty officers?  Wouldn't that be considered a "conflict of interest?"  Shouldn't they have brought in a fair and impartial 3rd party ---- sort of like the Erie County judges do when they bring in those joke retired double-dippers to act as their mouthpiece?

Cityslicker

Looks to me like that complaint started with a bunch of assumptions, and no facts.

Julie R for once I agree with you, that you are curious in your actions. This was a citizens complainant not a criminal complaint against an officer, its normal operating procedure to do an in house investigation under those circumstances. Once again you show you gross ignorance and you remain DISINHERITED......

The General

I would have to agree whole heartily with OHIOHOOSIER, and might also point out that The Answer Person says comments of ....."who may or may not have murdered a person" is quite politically correct, Randleman IS A COPKILLER. Its that simple

SitandSpin

I'm sure Ritterbach told the story exactly how it unfolded.....NOT !  Sandusky SPD has a significant image issue with their off duty antics.

Having these two families living across the street from each other is not good.  Ms. Dunn needs to warn her visitors to act like adults or it can get out of hand pretty quickly.  Chief Lang has to warn his officers whether on duty or off, to behave themselves and not aggravate the situation.

SitandSpin

Why Ms. Dunn ?  Why doesn't Mr. Dunn grow some and tell his "patrons" like it is ? Sandumpy SPD parades around to the beat of their own drummer when off-duty.....It is a he said she said situation but I can guarantee SPD will cover their own a$$e$ even if it means "twisting the truth" just a smidgen.

Julie R...its called  "Internal Affairs" and that is not something unique to the area/county.  Some loud-mouth was yelling...eventually told to shut up and go back in the house...clearly, it worked.  Unfortunately, she didn't like it...boo-hoo.

The complaintant did not call the police-but wrote a letter, instead?  And shes upset that nobody talked to her the day it happened...ooooooo-k.    If it was such a big deal-why would she not go talk to the police when they arrived??  Something isnt right here with the complaint...

Doesn't make any difference if it's a citizen's complaint or a criminal one. Considering this was a relative of Kevin Randleman's common sense alone would have said in all fairness and to avoid any hints of impropriety, a neutral 3rd party would have investigated the complaint. But then we all know when it comes to Erie County and Sandusky the rules of common sense and fairness does not apply. Could be why Sandusky is so divided --- and as the old saying goes:  A house divided shall soon fall.

I think it was handled correctly. There was ONE officer present and someone from his residence called. THEY cooperated with police. On the other hand, Denisha did not come out to talk to officers, even if her phone worked ANYONE elese that was involved in the addresses of 802 or 804 could have called. When ever I have had to call police I have at least came out my door when they arrive. I am not happy with the SPD recently but I think with this being such a minor investigation with no foundation to her claims except assumptions they handled it correctly. Should we call in another department everytime a relative of Randleman and let me tell you there are quite a few has to call the police bc thier relative killed one of our own? I think our taxes are paying enough for Randleman to have a fair trial when it is obviuos from camerea what happened. i dont want my money going to another department to handle what was a small complaint blew up into something more. this happens everyday -oh yeah in Perkins too- and it doesnt get this big.

UNREAL~These people are noting BUT trouble all the way around!   Keep kissing their butts~let them completely take over our city.    SICKENING.   GOD bless our LE  and thank you for all you do on or off duty!

SitandSpin

Thank SPD LE for what ? Breaking the laws that they themselves have sworn to enforce when they are off duty....Most of them (not all) think that the law does not apply to them.  SPD is a joke, they let these two bit hoodlums run Sandumpy

ALL THE POLICE LIED,AS WE THOUGHT! SHE TOLD THE TRUTH. HOW DO CALL THE POLICE ON CROOKED COPS. THATS WHY THEY NEVER SHOWED THE TAPE. NEGATIVE PAPERS CONTINUE YOUR TRAFFIC. THE POLICE KNOW THE PROCEDURE WHEN STOPPING CITIZENS. DONT HATE KEVIN, FREE HIM. NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD IN SANDUSKY, BUT THEY DO HAVE 75% OF SOME UNFAIR PIECES OF WORK IN THE SYSTEM ALTOGETHER. BUT  AS CITIZENS WE WILL REMEMBER THAT OFF - DUTY COPS ARE NOT IN THE WRONG & RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS. SO IN OTHER WORDS WE WILL REMEMBER THIS IN THE FUTURE THE NEXT TIME THEM COPS CROSS THE STREET ITS TIME FOR US CITIZENS TO PROTECT OURSELVES,BECAUSE SPD NOT. THEY GOT THE CHIEF & HIS INDIANS ACTING LIKE THEY WAS THERE.  WOW!! THATS NOT AN INVESTIGATION THATS CALLED DISCRIMINATION!!! IT HAPPENED!!! NEXT TIME ITS GONNA BE ON VIDEO & THEY CANT GAG THAT......... THEY KNOW IT DIDNT HAPPEN THE WAY THEY SAID IT DID THATS WHY THE REAL CITIZENS OF SANDUSKY HAVENT SEEN IT.......IF THEY GOT PROOF PROVE IT. THEY TAKING TOOOOO LONG WITH THE TAPE........BECAUSE IF IT HAPPENED THE WAY ITS BEING SAID, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWED THAT TAPE.....R I G H T!!!!!

SitandSpin

Ya_Majesty go to the liquor store get a 40oz, some philly blunts and crawl back into your hole on Wamajo Drive because none of that drivel made one bit of sense.

YAWWNN

Really? YA Majesty?  Your boys defense team are the people you need to talk to.  They requested that the judge seal the evidence on the dash cam tape.  The defense team only does this when they know that there is enough evidence on the tape that it would likely sway the opinion of anyone seeing it, against their client.  I'm going out on a limb here but I would bet every penny I have that the video shows your boy killing a cop in cold blood.  He is gonna fry and the rest of you worthless hood rats are likely gonna go down with him in the near future. LOL

Erie County Resident

@ YA_MAJESTY... (or should we call you Chicago?)

Go sit on your crown until all we can see is your knees.

I was not aware of this situation until I read this article. Did I read this correctly that someone filed a complaint because a neighbor used a racial slur and told someone to shut up?

So, everytime someone calls someone else a name or tells them to shut up, they can file a police report? The name calling is rude and ignorant but since when is it against the law? When did it become a reportable incident?  WOW. How long is that complaint line?

The way i read it, everyone except Dunn said in their testimony that Dunn told her to shut up. Also she didnt goto his house....Pfanner went to hers.  He lost his cell phone? a block away? around her house?  It just sounds fishy to me...
