Transgender rights law to take effect in California schools

The law is the nation’s first requiring public schools to let children use sex-segregated facilities and participate in the gender-specific activities of their choice.

With a law that spells out the rights of transgender students in grades K-12 set to take effect in California, school districts are reviewing locker room layouts, scheduling sensitivity training for coaches, assessing who will sleep where during overnight field trips and reconsidering senior portrait dress codes.

But administrators, counselors, teachers and school board members also are watching and waiting. The law, the nation’s first requiring public schools to let children use sex-segregated facilities and participate in the gender-specific activities of their choice, could end up suspended within days of its Jan. 1 launch if a referendum to repeal it qualifies for the November ballot.

The California School Boards Association is acting on the assumption the law will stand and that, even if it does not, existing state and federal anti-discrimination laws, as well as year-old California Interscholastic Federation rules under which athletes may petition to play on a sports team that does not correspond with their biological sex, already compel schools to accommodate transgender students.

The association has advised schools to handle requests on a case-by-case basis and with parental input, if possible, but to be prepared to make private changing arrangements both for transgender students and for classmates who might object to dressing with them.

Well lets see how long it takes for me to get hammered on this one. We are a country which has cast common sense and any last vestiges of morality to the wind... so get ready for the whirlwind. "Sensitivity training"- let's call it for what it really is- forced adherence and complicity under threat of job loss. "Parental input"- yeah, they'll ask for about a week- and then tell the parents they could care less what they think- they're going to do it anyways. To the students- who cares if your a female and don't wish to see some guys junk swinging all over your locker room- He (it) swears it's not intended for use upon you anyways- so get over it! Of course the guys locker room may be an entirely different story. Welcome to the new Sodom everyone- in actuality though, its the same old Sodom which has just been repackaged in the colors of a rainbow and forced upon the masses.

In 1960, there were people in this country that thought the same thing about letting black kids come into the public schools. Morality is not set in stone, since it is man-made.

Re: "black kids come into the public schools."

This argument would be valid in regards to the transgender issue only if the child is allowed to decide his racial and/or skin color preference.

So on the 2020 U.S. Census form, let's EVERYONE check "Black."

Well, I think that's the point, that(presumably) a transgender "child" is not making a conscious decision on gender. That may or may not be the case. Previously in this country, some white people believed that black people were as soulless as a cow or horse. They were wrong of course.

This world is becoming so screwed up.

This'll be interesting to follow.

I admit that I cannot understand the whole transgender thing. I have tried to grasp it but it eludes me. I think it is ridiculous to allow a boy to use a girls' bathroom just because he "feels" like he's really a girl! If I feel like I'm really a cat, should I demand a litter box?

It's simple. Although atheist progressives love to say how they're all about "science," in this case, observable reality, SCIENTIFICALLY testable with a simple cheek swab, is subordinate to one person's FEELINGS.

The belief by someone who is biologically male that he is female is logically no different from the belief by someone who is biologically human that he is a giraffe, or a pumpkin. However, it is treated as valid because technology can now warp anatomy to produce a facade of reality that matches the delusion.

Man the fun I would have if I was in school today!

If I lived in California, my kids would be homeschooled!!

starryeyes83

So then, what does this kid do when it's his time of the month?

OH, wait...

ladydye_5

So the "he-shes" have more rights than the "normal" kids? When does one group's rights outweigh someone elses? DO the normal kids have NO rights? What are they going to do the first time a "faker" gets in the locker room to be nothing more than a peeping tom?

Expulsion and/or 'sensitivity training.'

In the Brave New World, it's a crime to hurt another's feelings.

Read this on a blog this morning:

If God doesn't punish the U.S., He should apologize for destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.

What! What! Contango- what happened! After all we've been through in discussing the existence or non- existence of a God- and you give me this: "If God doesn't punish the U.S..." Whew! Maybe I affected (or infected) you? LOL

Re: "What! What! Contango-"

Don't let it go to your head. I just thought that it was an 'interesting' turn of a phrase & that it seemed apropos within the context of the topic. :)

Not-to-worry; our attempt to grasp an understanding of the universe through the use of metaphors and analogies is many steps removed from 'reality.'

Just wait until the ET missionaries show up and tell us that God died on their planet for our sins.

As long as the golden rule of male bathroom etiquette is followed I would not personally have a problem with it. Just remember "Janet" If you are standing next to me at the urinal please do not make eye contact with me. Just because you put on mascara does not give you the right to eye hump me.

There are more inportant things to worry about in the world than this...don't care.

Does this have anything to do with the Transgender Siberian Orchestra?
