An inmate tried to commit suicide inside the Erie County jail Tuesday night, according to an Erie County deputy’s report.
Brandon Clark, 21, of Camp Street, is serving a jail sentence for domestic violence. He was booked into the jail Oct. 24, according to jail records.
A corrections officer found Clark inside his cell attempting to harm himself shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, the report said. Clark was sitting on the floor, tugging on both ends of a sheet he had wrapped around his neck. The jail guard removed the sheet before Clark sustained any injuries. Referring to the suicide attempt, Clark later told a corrections officer, “I will be successful,” the report said.
Clark also left a note inside his cell. He was placed in restraints and spoke to mental health workers, the report said.
