“Double S Industries was not known very well in the community,” said Allison Young, the CEO at Ability Works. “I heard people say I don’t know you and the name does not tell about anything of what you do.”
Ability Works Inc. gives meaningful jobs to individuals with disabilities. Companies with a need for signs, document management, custom labeling, customized production and subcontracting of employees can head to Ability Works to get the work done.
The new tag line, “Working to meet your needs,” better reflects the company’s mission and the capabilities of its employees. “We offer day care programs and work programs,” Young said. “Ability Works works for everybody. It hit both areas.”
What did the Double S in Double S Industries stand for? Significant Services.
The meaning fell by the wayside, however, as most people had no idea what Double S Industries does.
The new name has already gained more attention, as well as fostering a better understanding about the organization.
Charles Wright, business manager for Ability Works, said the name change didn’t cost the organization any money.
The company started to prepare for the name change a year ago, allowing for a gradual disappearance of office items such as stationary and envelopes, which had featured the old name.
Ability Works also has its own sign shop to make decals for the buses.
