The driver of a dump truck was flown by medical helicopter to a Toledo hospital at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, after his dump truck overturned on Ceylon Road.

Tom Herner, 68, of Norwalk, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The extent of his injuries was unknown, although he was conscious and talking when emergency crews arrived.

The crash was just south of Ohio 113 and north of Nash Road, close to the Erie-Huron counties border. The truck was hauling a load of dirt when it went off the side of the road and crashed.

Berlin Heights firefighters and Erie County deputies responded to the scene.

Prayers Tom and family

Tom will be ok. Went and seen him yesterday. Beat-up but will survive. Damn lucky it wasn't as bad as you would think.

Texting and driving?

Pterocarya frax...

I don't know this gentleman, but most 68 year old dump truck drivers don't text while driving. Some do however, have a problem with the sharp curve right there, especially the way the road is banked on it. Best wishes to him.

Why does everyone think all accidents are caused by texting and driving? Get a life cowboy!
