Jason P. Starkey, who has been labeled the Monroeville text predator, was sentenced Wednesday to nine months in prison.

He did get a credit for the four months he’s already served in jail, so he'll only have to serve another five months behind bars.

Monroeville police confiscated several cell phones and other items from his home after complaints were made about Starkey soliciting oodles of strangers via text messages.

His public offender says it’s clear Starkey needs mental health treatment, not prison time.
