The center’s residents are temporary, as they aim to get their lives back on track. Quite often, however, the staff ends up providing transportation to residents who are headed to job interviews, housing meetings, doctors appointments and such.
Liberty Center employees often use their vehicles to provide transportation to residents.
“But insurance companies are really starting to frown on that,” executive director Margaret Weisz said.
Last year, Weisz heard about other organizations applying to win a vehicle through the Toyota Facebook contest. This year she sent in an application, landing The Liberty Center a spot on the Top 250 list.
And it only got better from there.
On Wednesday, the agency will be one of five organizations people can vote for on a Facebook contest in which two of the five will be winners.
“We have a real chance at this,” Weisz said. “It literally takes 30 seconds.”
