The Blade in Toledo reported Wednesday the executive director of the Toledo Area Humane Society said there was “insufficient evidence” to press charges against the woman who leads the group.

Director Gary Willoughby said there is no clear evidence regarding the dog’s cause of death and of any wrongdoing by a person.

An animal advocacy agency exhumed the dog’s remains last month after receiving a tip. The remains of several other animals were also dug up.

Humane Society officials have visited the woman’s new home and concluded the animals that remain in her care are in good condition.
