Justin Richmond, 23, of the 2200 block of St. Clair St., was charged with drug trafficking, marijuana possession, possession of criminal tools and driving under suspension.
An officer pulled Richmond’s vehicle over in the Perkins Plaza at about 2 p.m. and smelled raw marijuana when he approached the car, according to a police report. Richmond drew officers’ attention to a burnt marijuana cigar in his ashtray, which he had smoked earlier in the day, but officers weren’t satisfied with the find, the report said.
Richmond told officers they could not search his car, and he asked for an attorney. Police then told him they did not need consent to search the vehicle because of the odor, the report said.
Officers located a glass jar with four bags of marijuana in the backseat, along with a digital scale. They also seized $150 in cash. Richmond was taken to the Erie County jail, but he was later released on $10,000 bond.
