Christopher Watters, 48, of Canton, remains in serious condition, while Rickey Treherne Jr., 32, also of Canton, is in critical condition at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Watters, Treheren, and Steven Gresser, 31, of Canton, were passengers in a Mercury Grand Marquis — driven by Morgan Jevec, 24, of Massilion — that slammed into an SUV at U.S. 20 and North Sandusky Street.
The SUV’s driver, Tracy Albright, 36, died at the scene.
Jevec was released from the hospital a few days later, and Gresser was released Saturday from the Toledo Hospital. Charges have yet to be filed.
A caller alerted police to the Marquis, which was driving recklessly. Bellevue police Sgt. Donald Miller spotted Jevec’s car just before the crash, as it headed into Bellevue from the east, Bellevue police Chief Dennis Brandal said.
Miller turned on his lights and sirens and tried to catch up to the Mercury, but he lost sight of the vehicle as it passed under the railroad bridge on East Main Street, Brandal said.
“His line of vision was blocked by the bridge,” Brandal said. “The crash had already happened by the time he came up under the bridge.”
