Wow. Complain, complain, complain about higher taxes. Complain, complain, complain that the City needs to cut expenses. And then jump all over them when they don't raise taxes and they do cut expenses ( I congratulate administrators for at least making an effort here). I'm not sure how nobody's suffering whiplash over these completely disparate demands!
Is everything plowed promptly? No. But the main roads are, and the secondary roads do get their turn. (Alleys aren't plowed, and for some very good reasons.) The only improvement at this point that I'd suggest is that the City consider using brine over salt on the roads. It's cheaper, and some suggest it works even better.
The city finished with a $629,000 surplus in 2010, making it one of the better years in Sandusky history.
Quite the shoestring.
Captain Gutz, I suspect one of the reasons the city ended up with a surplus from 2010 has to do with some of their cost-cuting measures (the other reason is I don't think they commissioned any more expensive studies...hah!).
I agree 100% that most of the surplus came from cuts, now buy a new plow and some more salt!
