Homes sell for more in Firelands area

Do you want the good news, or the better news?

Do you want the good news, or the better news?

Home sales in the Firelands Association of Realtors area, Erie County and nearby counties, rose slightly in November — from 151 in November 2009 to 153 in November.

That's decent news in itself as the housing market continues to struggle to find its footing. Statewide, home sales fell 28.3 percent last month, compared to November 2009.

In fact, except for the Firelands Association of Realtors area, home sales fell in every area tracked by the Ohio Association of Realtors. In the Cleveland area, for example, they plunged 29.7 percent.

But the better news is that in the Firelands area — Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Seneca and Sandusky counties — the dollar volume for home sales soared 25.2 percent, from about $16.7 million in November 2009 to about $20.9 million last month.

That was fueled by a 23.6 percent jump in the average sales price — from $110,538 to $136,615.

Love the propaganda.

When in the history of the world has anyone ever heard any realtor say that it was a bad time to buy a house or that they couldn't get top dollar for yours if you only listed with them?

outsider

Realtors can spin a story almost as good as politicians. Take a bunch of numbers release a few and presto "money is falling from the sky".

Some people seem to find something bad in EVERYTHING reported.

FST...    AMEN!!!

goofus

I find it truly amazing how Erie County Ohio is so far ahead of the nation.

Taxpayer

It IS total disinformation.  I can display plenty of aspersion as to why my properties deserve to be sold for twice their value.  Here is a tip.  The value of ALL property in the "Firelands" area has gone DOWN!  Don't believe that?  Try selling your house NOW!  The realtor feels your home is worth MILLIONS, the auditor will TAX on their assessment.  The TRUTH is you can NOT sell it unless you discount it by HALF!  You liberals need to examine the FACTS instead of always accepting the "anointed" news as gospel by your liberal government and media.  So WHAT are the property values in Huron, Ottawa, Senca and Sandusky counties?  Come on liberals, THINK for a change.  WHO is buying in Sandusky county?  Why don't YOU go to Clyde and buy up some of that forclosed property?  And WHAT is the problem in Sandusky County?  Come on freaks, you read the Sandusky Register, what is going on over there?  How about Ottawa County?  Oops, they have the HIGHEST unemployment rate (15.2%) with a higher SALES TAX in the "Firelands" area.  I wonder WHO is buying there?  Seneca is still at 10.1% and Huron County is at 12.1% unemployment.  As I have posted before, the TRUE economic indicator of any area is the UNEMPLOYMENT percentage.  "Some people seem to find something bad in EVERYTHING reported."  Ha! Ha!  Some people seem to be blind, liberal, stooges who will believe ANYTHING they are told.  Ha! Ha!  How about looking for the TRUTH instead of believing how wonderful everything is.  If you keep listening to the president YOU elected and ALL the liberal politicians, and liberal media, we are in PARADISE.  The recession ended in June 2009!  The economy is booming.  I guess LOOSING two congressional seats means absolutely NOTHING to you liberal crybabies.  Boo, hoo, hoo!  Give us some "hope and change" so we can "believe" in good news and walk with slippers.  Boo, hoo, hoo!  Ha! Ha!

Former Resident

Taxpayer.  I recently sold a house that I owned in Sandusky for FULL asking price!  It was in a desireable neighborhood and sold in 2 weeks!  I'm going to cry all the way to the bank.  Now who's laughing!

@ Former Resident:   If as you claim that you recently sold a house for the “FULL asking price,” your price was too low, you surprisingly found a fool for a buyer or you’re a liar; which is it?

Did you use a realtor or was it a FSBO?

In 2010, houses are commodities - no one is getting their original asking price. What percentage did you lower it?

goofus

Hey astroturfer Rahm Emmanuel/Former resident, I see your house on the chaussee and raise you two on the chaussee, two in the 52nd street area and two in the Hollyrood Rd subdivision.

The moderators sure do like to pick and choose who they remove. It wouldn`t be so bad if they were fair about it.  I wonder who moderates the moderators?

6079 Smith W

@ FST:

"Fair"?

Perhaps sticking largely to the topic and in turn stating reasonably intelligent opinions sans moronic personal trash talk would tend to eliminate deletions?

FST

6079smith...you might want to take your own advice there slick.

6079 Smith W

@ FST:   I do "Slick." And that’s why I seldom if ever get deleted and then don’t feel the need to whine about the unfairness of “the moderators.”     BTW: Watch the govt. bureaucrats use this "good news" to seek increased property tax rates in order to garner additional operating revenue to add to their dwindling coffers.   You won't mind paying a few hundred dollars more a year on the increased value of your home(s) to help out the less fortunate will you?

goofus

My post was deleted because I called out an astroturfer who was lying when he said he was a banker, I made a reference to the game of monopoly, it was not derogatory at all, I imagine the said astroturfer whined and complained,
