A 31-year-old Huron man got more than he bargained for when he jumped into the Huron River the day after Thanksgiving.
Jacob Lucas was drinking at the Brass Pelican on Main Street, at the edge of the Huron River, when he decided to jump into the river just after midnight, a Huron Police report said. He was later found lying soaking wet on the boardwalk near the Brass Pelican.
He suffered a mild case of hypothermia, ripped his jeans and injured his knee, the report said.
His sister and brother-in-law said he was intoxicated at the bar and they "lost track" of him. He'd been in the water for about 10 minutes and his body temperature had dropped to 92 degrees. He told medical personnel he jumped into the water.
Police cited Lucas for disorderly conduct intoxicated, while employees at the Brass Pelican banned him from returning to the bar.
