Norwalk police arrested a woman who they say tried to steal about $100 worth of items by hiding them in a baby seat at Walmart.
Kayla D. Picklesimer, 23, first block Townsend Ave., was shopping in the store with an infant and another small child when a Walmart security officer saw her place items into her cart and then stuff them into a baby seat with a blanket over it. She went through the check-out counter and paid for a few items but continued to hide other supplies inside the baby seat, according to a police report.
When the security officer stopped her as she headed to the parking lot, she said she'd forgotten the other items and offered to pay for them. She had placed a total of 22 items in the seat, valued at $103. The items included baby supplies, as well as jeans and other clothing. They were returned to Walmart, and she was taken to jail.
