Authorities are investigating the welfare of a teenage boy who was reportedly left living alone in Huron by his mother who left the area with her two other children.

A concerned parent contacted police who called Erie County Childrens Services as well as the local school.

The 16-year-old boy confirmed the information when contacted by police. He told police he had money for supplies and was taking care of himself, according to a police report.

The matter remains under investigation.

Let's hope they catch the mother and find out why she did it. It may have been a temporary thing so I will wait and see.

No one really knows the real story but it sounds as though she may have just went away, not abandoned him. Not saying that it is right to leave a 16 year old alone for any length of time, but since he had money for supplies as the article stated, leads me to believe that she went on a trip somewhere or something and left him home alone. I am sure some 16 year olds are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves for a few days but it's not a good idea in my opininion. However, some kids are already on their own by that age. I sincerely hope she didn't just abandon him.

I agree that at sixteen, some people would be able to handle caring for themselves. What might have happened here is that the mother needed to move for some reason (health, job, family) and the sixteen year old didn't want to change schools.

My wonderfull mother cared for not only herself, but also for me at just seventeen.

OH NO! Left to roam the mean streets of Huron Ohio!  It's funny that the only danger he faced was a nosey neighbor who didn't mind her own business.

Just Saying

What kind of "caring" mother leaves her under aged child alone to live in another state?!! Sixteen year olds still need guidance and someone there for them.  Unbelievable.
