A Bellevue man was released from the hospital after his car flipped over during a two-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in Huron.

Anthony Gardner, 26, was traveling west on U.S. 6 when a 17-year-old pulled out from a private residence at about 12:20 a.m. The teen failed to yield to oncoming traffic, police said.

Upon impact, Gardner’s 2005 Chevy Avalanche rolled onto the driver’s side near the middle of the road. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and Erie County Sheriff’s deputies assisted with traffic control and cleanup.

Gardner was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center emergency room. He was discharged a short time later.

The teen was cited for operating a vehicle without reasonable control. Two other teenage passengers were in the vehicle as well.

Falling Down

Probably caused by some fool in a hurry (speeding), changing lanes without using their turn signal while on their cell phone. It doesn't matter if their are from out of town or local, too many people are guilty of the above. Just proves drivers are becoming lazy and careless who have no respect for others on the road. Using your turn signal is not rocket science, try it some time.

Usually the ones from Sandusky are really bad:

Speed up to a red light.

Don't move at a green light for 30 seconds, as too busy yapping, texting or looking in mirror.

Have too many "Britney Perkins Soccer 5" or "Cody Perkins Fast Pitch 9" stickers in rear window to see out.

Don't know what a turn lane is.

Don't know what a turn SIGNAL is.

if they see you're signaling to switch lanes they speed up so you can't.

Won't get over into the slow lane causing bottlenecking.

In a 45 they go 25.

In a 25 they go 45.

They tailgate you if you're going 25 in a 25.

When they're going 25 in a 45 if you're right on their a$$ to move, they slow down even more or "brake check" you. That's why we call it SLOWhio.

Falling Down

Speed up to a red light is good one, but what amazes me is when the fly around you to be the car ahead of you or next to you at the red light they could have seen a mile down the road. I have seen run right thru red lights and stop signs. I hate to see people hurt but those people need to have their vehicle on it side like the truck in picture.

But I have also seen alot of people who do not know where their headlight switch is, PEOPLE the park lights are NOT headlights, headlights should be on when it is still dark in the morning, getting dark at night, and the new law that says when your windshield wipers are on so should your headlights.

Driving is about being respectful, using common sense and following the laws of the road and using your vehicles equipment, headlights, turn signals, seat belts, etc.. and maintaining an assured clear distance to the vehicle in front of you.

Road rage is created by all others.

17 years old ... isn't there a curfew ?? car full of kids usually equals CHAOS.

tigers

driving curfew by the state of ohio for 17 year olds is 1am thank you very much.

Gardenman

This 17 yo insurance was I am sure already high but given an accident and he is cited it will now shoot thru the roof in cost if he can find a person to insure him.

tigers

um everybody on this i am a friend with that 17 year old guy that caused this and i was there to witness this, all that happened was a car in the other lane waved him to go and yes he made the mistake of not looking to the left to see the other car speeding at him. so before all of you people start to judge him this is life mistakes happen maybe all you people instead of criticizing should instead say glad the three teenagers all of my friends aren't dead because this was the worst way to end our senior homecoming and a traumatic experience for all of my friends for the rest of their lives.

first of duh month

Looks like "tigers" needs to go back to 4th grade English class...and not get smart with your elders. It's that "know it all" smart aleck attitude that will make you fail miserably in life.

tigers

Fine, actually sir or ma'am, I'm a merit roll student in high school already accepted into two colleges. I was simply defending my friend by being a good friend, you simply see it as me calling out others so while you say I may fail in life I am actually respected by many in Huron and wait aren't you the one sitting at home trying to argue with a 17 year old? Please don't start an argument my friends and I have been through enough.

SMH-FML

It is a TERRIBLE way to end YOUR senior homecoming. While of course I am glad no one was seriously injured, i'm glad to see the biggest worry is how your senior homecoming ended haha.  What about the 26 year old man who was injured and taken to the hospital? What if he is to sore to work for a little while (how will he pay his bills), what if his vehicle is too damaged to be driven etc.  I'm soooo sorry for your terrible ending to homecoming (sarcasam) ... . Typical snotty little teenager, thank you very much........

tigers

That 26 year old was taken to the hospital with a cut on his arm all he needed was neosporin and a band-aid he told us himself he was fine. Plus the damage to his car would be paid by the the person who did it seeing it was his fault, so I'm sure the guy will be able to manage so don't call me a snotty teenager.

SMH-FML

Yes, his vehicle will be fixed with no cost to him, after he gets estimates, deals with insurance, and gets a rental and so on.  Obviously you missed the point that it is a hassle and usually a headache to deal with, and your biggest concern was your homecoming.  (you said it not me ... YOUR poor homecoming had a terrible ending. boo-hoo ) I refuse to try to reason with an unreasonable person so i must bid you adieu.

tigers

Actually I know all that entails with accidents I went through drivers-ed and passed easy. Yes it was a bad ending to homecoming which is supposed to be a happy time for the students and alumni that come home for the weekend so a car accident isn't a way we want to end it. I'm unreasonable, I simply was defending my friends and you all attacked me, yes the guy hit should be the one sympathized the most but my friends were in the car too.

Julie R.

That is one scary accident scene and it's hard to believe no one was seriously injured.  I know when my kids first got their license my worst nightmare was they would get in an accident. Glad to say my nightmare never became a reality so let's just all thank God these kids and the other guy are all OK.

localgirl

Its always reassuring knowing the other man is ok after ending with such a bad night....And seriously how selfish can people be..Worrying about their homecoming night when they could have killed someone, if some people were paying attention in drivers ed the driver would have known to double look both ways as they teach you and its been 5 years since I have been in drivers ed and I remember that. Its always the other drivers you have to watch out more than worrying about how your driving. I have had some many close calls with accidents and guess what alot of them were from teens talking on their cell phones and "showing off" how they can speed and rip around corners...And now I have a newborn baby in my car and you never know what can happen.

Tigers Dad

I am the father of the boy that caused the accident. i would like everyone to know that he feels horrible about what happened. The last thing on his mind is his senior year Homecoming dance. My son is a very good kid and a very very caring person. He would do anything possible to help anyone. He made a mistake and this is something that he can't take back. I am tired of reading the comments about my son making him out to be a horrible person. You ask anyone that knows him and you will see how totally opposite he is of being horrible. Yes he caused an "ACCIDENT". This is something that can't be changed. He regrets this and was very concerned about everyone involved in the accident and not himself. All he kept saying is he hopes everyone is OK. For those of you that want to judge someone based on a mistake that was made. Well, I feel sorry for you. I'm sure you all are perfect and have never made a mistake in your lives. Feel free to vent your frustrations out on me, but LEAVE MY SON ALONE!!!!!

LookinUp

To Tigers dad - Good for you to speak up!  There are a lot of insensitive, know-it-all idiots on here!

Glad everybody is OK.

Duhast

Yea, you guys are being pretty mean to Tigers. He/she was not showing more concern about Homecoming. I got what Tigers was saying.

Tiger’s dad; Glad your son is OK. However, a car full of teenagers at 12:30am is probably not a good idea. I thought there was a new rule about how many passengers under-age drivers could have and how late they could drive??

sassy_girl

Way to go Tigers Dad!

Has anyone been keeping up with all the kids committing suicide because they are being bullied?  All of these negative comments about a teenager you don't even know are NO different than that!

Everyone makes mistakes!  Be thankful everyone is okay.  No one is perfect!

Tigers Dad

Yes, there is a law. They are only allowed to have 1 person under the age of 18 with them until they turn 17. Also, while some kids are drinking and doing drugs on a Saturday night. These kids were getting subs to take over to my sons grandparents house while camping out after a school dance. This is something they do every year. His grandparents chaperone this and are happy to have the kids over. I am very proud that these children choose to do this versus the alternative ( going to a party where underage drinking is going on). Although what happened is very terrible. I am very proud of my son and the choices he has made in his life. Trust me when I say he feels terrible about causing the accident. He wishes this never would have happened. He hopes for the best to the gentleman that was injured.

Norma J-C

I hope you have a good attorney,  tiger dad, as you just admitted your son's guilt in a public forum and your insurance company is going to pay big time for the lawsuit that's on its way. That's what I call an expensive lesson. One never admits guilt in a legal venue or didn't you know that?

Duhast

Good luck.  I'm sure it will blow over and nobody will remember in a week.

BTW, remind me never to buy a Chevy Avalanche .  Why do people feel so safe in top heavy SUVs?

Julie R.

Duhast: I'm afraid you're wrong when you say this will blow over in a week. This is the kind of accident (when insurance companies are involved) that dirty attorneys love. You can bet attorneys are already calling the guy that was injured.

mom2five

I am the 17 yr old drivers AUNT...and Tiger Dad's sister. My brother said it all. My nephew is a classy kid, great student and one of the most responsible teenagers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing or being related to. You people that get on here just make your 2-cents heard....good for you....but hey, if you don't have anything niceor at least nonjudgmental to say, don't say anything at all. Being glad everyone is ok IN BOTH CARS is great and all, but when you start ranting at a teenage girl for being upset about her evening ending like it did knowing her friends were in a car accident, I mean REALLY?? Weren't WE ALL teenagers at some point and when you think back to your school dances, why wouldn't someone be upset that they'll forever remember their friends being in a car accident that night? I have been in a couple car accidents and they DO haunt you forever. whether you are at fault or not. Just like Tiger Dad said, these are good kids doing GOOD after-dance activities...not drugs/alcohol like MANY do. So back off. You don't know the circumstances, you don't know the people, but you obviously know how to judge. We'll all be judged someday. KUDOS to you brother and I hope you all get through this mess levelheaded and well. Give my nephew a hug from me! (and a kiss if he'll let you!) ;) Love you guys!

LookinUp

Julie R. - Do you have any attorneys in mind in particular?  Watch out for the all-knowing buffoon!

localgirl

Being a good kid and responsible or not, like I said I am so glad everyone is ok and we are all stating facts about teen drivers and not only teen drivers. I too was a teen driver not to long ago and know how our mind goes in a different place while we are behind the wheel with friends in the car, especially after a fun night. They stressed in driving school to limit the number of friends in the car to 1 because of distractions. And yes a car accident will haunt you but the person who had to generally say it ruined their homecoming night should have really thought about what they said before they said it. My friend was in a serious car wreck a few months ago and the person that hit them was perfectly fine and got out of the car and jus said "thanks for making me late for work" when it was that persons fault and my friend ended up with rods and screws in her back. Homecoming night should have not went through this childs head first it should have been the safety and well being of the friends and the other man. And on that note we were all stating how we feel about a thoughtless selfish comment

Hmm

Geez local girl, give it a rest.

Julie R.

LookinUp: Not just the attorney Buff but ALL attorneys. If you haven't noticed, other than Ron Bailey, the only lawyers that are making a sheet load of money in Erie County are the Lorain and Cuyahoga County lawyers not to mention the rent-a-judges. They can't even use the sitting Cuyahoga County judges in their scams any more------that is until the FEDS are gone from Cuyahoga County and the way it looks that isn't going to be any time soon!

localgirl

Really? For making 2 comments? HAHAHA

Hmm

Gemini-I think the evidence lies on Cleveland Rd, not on this silly blog.

Duhast

That's why we all have this little thing called insurance.  The kid shouldn't have to deal with anything.  He will pay his deductable and then his insurer will take care of everything.  No death = no cival suit.  He'll go to court, plead no contest, and get some fine and his license temporaily suspended.  SOme of you guys are making WAY too much out of this.  Is it because there were exciting pictures on the website??  People total cars and have fender benders every day.
