Carroll Lewis, 61, struck a deer on Sept. 20. Or rather, the deer struck him.
It was about 7 a.m. Lewis was headed to work at Janesville Acoustics in Norwalk.
He was driving his 2001 Harley Davidson Road King east on Higbee Road -- a route he knew. Farmers were in the fields up ahead, and Lewis knew the deer would be moving.
He slowed down, in fact, when he spotted three deer.
"That's when all hell broke loose," Lewis said.
