This was no bird or plane. It was Superman lying near the intersection of Risden Road and U.S. 6 in Vermilion.
Deputies received a call from a motorist at 5:35 p.m. Sunday about a man in red and blue spandex tights, a "S" decal on his chest, lying alongside the road. When deputies arrived they found Allen James Mullins, 28, of Missouri dressed as Superman.
On Monday motorists and residents spotted Mullins as he walked through Sandusky and Perkins Township.
In addition to the costume, Mullins carries a stick horse pony, the type used by children to gallop across living rooms, and a flag.
Mullins told deputies he's walking across the country to support troops stationed around the world.
Mullins also carries with him a photo album containing pictures of himself with military and law enforcement personnel.
"He was not breaking any laws so we sent him on his way," Capt. Paul Sigsworth said.
