Alcohol suspected in rollover crash

A Huron man was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence following a crash Friday morning on Ceylon Road in Berlin Township.

Michael Lewallen, 41, was driving a Jeep Cherokee south on Ceylon Road when at about 1:30 a.m. the vehicle went off the road and flipped, landing on its roof in a ditch.

Erie County deputies also charged him with failure to control and possession of marijuana. He was not injured.

Berlin Township firefighters and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers assisted at the scene. Lewallen was taken to the Huron police station, where his blood-alcohol level registered at 0.201 percent. Deputies also found marijuana in his pocket.

He was later released to his wife.
