The Sandusky Crime Prevention Council will meet 6 p.m. this evening at the Sandusky Fire Department, 600 W. Market St.

Members will discuss the issue of domestic violence.

“I know a lot of people don’t like to discuss it or bring it up,” said Jaimen Johnson, vice president of the Sandusky Crime Prevention Council. “But it is important to as it takes a toll on the whole family."

Donna Bretz, of Safe Harbor, and Sarah Reynolds, an Erie County victims advocate, will serve as guest speakers. “The speakers will talk about the affects of domestic violence on the family and children,” Johnson said. “They will also share with people the services that are provided in Sandusky.”

Safe Harbour provides shelter, counseling, advocacy, support groups and community awareness education according to its website. Reynolds will discuss the legal and personal steps victims can take to flee a situation before it escalates.

“Our community meeting goals are to educate the public,” Johnson said. “We had 30 people at last month’s meeting and I’m hoping we can get family members of victims to go so they can share the information with them.”

The council has about 10 members so far. Johnson said she's always looking for new members. For more information call 567-282-0103 or 330-221-3090.

I HAVE SEEN THEIR PAM FLITS THEY TELL THE WOMEN TO HID MONEY AND PUT LEGAL DOCUMENTS IN A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN EASILY BE TAKEN BY HER WHEN SHE DECIDES TO LEAVE...MANY FAMILY'S ARE STRUGGLING FINICALLY AND TO HID MONEY FROM THE SPOUSE IS JUST WRONG

It is time for you to zip your lips & stop your typing until you know more about what's going on here. This group of people are getting together to make a difference in peoples lives. I give them credit for pushing to make changes and make the area what it used to be.

It should be about respecting each other rather then hiding things from the spouse. People do not know how to act in each other's presence and they don't know how to cope with everyday problems. To solve a problem, they try to harm each other by injuring them physically or mentally. They haven't been taught to work things out and not make a big thing out of smaller things.
