A man was struck and killed by a train near Venice Road and Tiffin Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. today.

The man was decapitated, police said. During discussions over scanner traffic, they said the incident was "an obvious dead on arrival."

Police are working to identify the man. He is a white man in his late teens or early 20s, they said.

Keep checking back for updates and pick up a copy of tomorrow's Register for the full story.

Some of you people are very disrespectful. He graduated in my class and was the cutest guys I've met. He was a good kid and shouldn't be gone. He's too young. Rest in Paradise DJ. Xoxo

Such a sad story. It happened where the new overpass is going in. My work is right behind where it happened. It was a coal train so it wasn't moving fast.....RIP young soul......

A man is dead and his family probably doesn't know yet; I keep them all in my thoughts.

The man was trespassing on NS property. The NS police could have arresting him for that. The engineer and the conductor were taken out of service for something that was not their fault. A train cannot swerve to miss someone that is on the tracks or by the tracks. A train cannot stop on a dime when the length is anywhere from eight cars to 125 car lengths long. A coal train moves at the speed of maybe 10 MPH while going to and from the coal docks but they look like they are going faster because trains are opitcal illusions. You cannot tell how fast they are really going.

All of you inconsiderate people need to get a life and stop posting negative comments. No one knew why he did it and no one knew he was possibly depressed. Get your nonsense off of here and be more respectful.

Just Because

Lets not jump to conclusions. Maybe he was just out walking and simply slipped. Lets hope it was simply an accident. Not that it brings him back but give the family some peace! My heart goes out to his family. Young life lost too soon!
