A body was pulled from the rubble of the demolished farm house after a fire reported at about 4 a.m. today in the 13000 block of West Duff Washa Road, about seven miles north of Oak Harbor.

Officials have yet to officially identify the victim of the fire, Sheriff Steve Levorchick said.

The home is owned by Richard and Vickie Avery, according to county records.

The house was fully engulfed in flames where firefighters from Allen-Clay Joint Fire District arrived. Carroll Township firefighters also helped to battle the blaze.

"The house was completely destroyed," Levorchick said.

All that remained was the basement foundation and the brick walls.

"The fire chief called for an excavator to come in and take down those walls before going in, to keep them from falling on anyone," Levorchick said.

No one else was at the Benton Township home at the time of the fire.

the fire destroyed the home and it was not safe so had to be demolished. am sure they can still determine cause or arson.
