50 years ago, 1963: At the movie theater: “Giant” starring Liz Taylor and Rock Hudson; “Papa’s Delicate Condition” starring Jackie Gleason; “Wonderful to be Young” starring Cliff Richard; and “To Kill a Mockingbird” starring Gregory Peck.

25 years ago, 1988: A truck reported stolen from Johnny Angel’s was found on the Conrail tracks, in Huron, in the path of a train. The truck, reported stolen around 2:30 a.m., was found after 4 a.m by Huron Police after a train severely damaged it.

10 years ago, 2003: The number of people in U.S. prisons and jails in 2002 topped 2 million for the first time, driven by get-tough sentencing policies that mandate long terms for drug offenders and other criminals.
