A 19-year-old Bellevue man was killed Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle was hit by an SUV at County Roads 308 and 62 in York Township, according to the Fremont post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Trisha A. Smith, 24, of Green Springs was driving a Chevrolet Suburban west on County Road 62 at about 3:48 p.m. when she stopped at the intersection of County Road 308 and then pulled into the path of Chad A. Basil, who was southbound on a Suzuki motorcycle, the patrol said.

The Suzuki collided with the right rear tire of the Suburban, and Basil was ejected from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet, but was pronounced dead at the scene, patrol said.

Smith, who wore a seat belt, was not injured.

Both vehicles were disabled and were towed from the accident site.

The crash remains under investigation, and no citations have been issued. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the patrol said.
