Ohio woman claims she was fired for Obama vote

A southwest Ohio woman who says she was fired because she voted for President Barack Obama filed a lawsuit against her former employer.

Patricia Kunkle's lawsuit accuses Dayton-based defense contractor Q-Mark Inc. and its president of telling employees that if Obama was re-elected, then his supporters would be the first to be fired, The Dayton Daily News reported.

Brian Wildermuth, an attorney for the company president, said in a statement that Kunkle was laid off for economic reasons — "nothing more."

"I am sure you and your readers are familiar with the ongoing uncertainties regarding defense spending, and thus the economic environment confronting defense contractors," he said. "The allegation that Q-Mark discharged Ms. Kunkle because of her vote is simply false."

Kunkle, of Kettering, has an unlisted phone number and her Dayton attorney didn't immediately respond to a request to speak with her.

The lawsuit, filed in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 14, seeks a minimum of $25,000. It says that Kunkle's vote came up in conversation on Nov. 7, the day after the election, and that she was fired Nov. 9. The suit claims that the company's president and owner, Roberta Gentile, said the firing was in the "best interest of the company."

The lawsuit said that Gentile engaged Q-Mark employees in conversations aimed at discovering their political affiliations and repeatedly disparaged Obama supporters.

Kunkle started as a temporary worker with the small company in April and became full-time in May, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit said that she performed her duties "efficiently and effectively," and never received any disciplinary action or negative performance evaluations.

Defense attorneys have until mid-March to respond to the lawsuit.

Seems fishy, but probably won't stand up in court. Employers always win. The law is set up to protect them and not employees.

Second Opinion

No logical person would entertain such a thought nor post such a ridiculous ideology. It’s easy to determine that those who think like this voted for this squatter in office who calls himself Commander in Chief. Excluding the sexual tirades there’s little differences between Caligula and Obama. Caligula stood in the towers and threw the treasuries money down upon the people while Obama does it with a pen.

Whiskey Tango F...

we will never know or be able to prove who she cast a vote for... I don't think she voted for Obama, I think she wants more cash and prizes! Well on second thought, now that she is suing over such B.S. I guess this proves she actually did vote Democrat.

Actually, if you pay attention when you vote, you'll see that it's very easy. They record your ballot number in the polling record book. No one in the polling place can discern your vote at the time, but anyone with access to the ballots later can.

Unemployment rate Jan. 2009 - 7.70%

Unemployment rate Jan. 2013 - 7.90%

Unememployment is higher than when Pres. BHO was first elected. Huh. She should get in line.

I posted this same on 1/31/2013....

Being an employer is becoming more and more difficult. We had a few people that we were withholding for child support and other things as mandated by the court. When we slowed down and we let them go due to lack of work we had the telephone ringing for a month asking if we were hiring, I think a ploy by some legal teams to see if we really let them go because of this or maybe they just wanted off to receive unemployment. Then it became worse, we were subpoenaed to testify in court that we had laid them off for a reason! When I sent a representative they sat for a number of hours and nothing took place but they were supposed to come back. In another case we were subpoenaed to testify in Cuyahoga County for the same thing. In both cases we ended up turning it over to our legal people and in the end it cost over $2,500.00 to lay off these people because we were slow. God, maybe I should have filed for something, there must be some refund for the employer, oh yea, maybe just buy from China and eliminate the employee!

@ 2cents:

Thanks. My spouse has a great discrimination suit story, where the "piece of work" accuser never even showed up for the hearing. The accuser had expected her co. to "roll over" and not fight the charge.

The accuser later went to work for the govt. and caused her office all kinds of problems. My spouse complained to her superior and got her fired.

IMO, someday, the unemployment office will just phone you and tell you that they're sending you over a new employee and to put them to work.

Ol' Soviet Union joke: They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work.

Simple Enough II

I remember that line!

She is the one that wanted change, she should be the first to have to take ownership for the changes she wanted and asked for. Sadly, the rest of us cannot sue for some fast cash because a number of Ohians either voted numerous times, or voted out of ignorance.

By the way, if you work for a defense contractor and you want to keep your job, why would you vote for Obama?

I talked with a couple guys from a company called Tekran out of Tennessee. They make mercury monitors to emission sources (industrial chimneys). They were all voting for Obama only because they knew that he would mutliply their business by the 100's, even though mercury emission monitoring is about as accurate as a blind man with a bow and arrow. Money is money, and this lady bet on the wrong number for her job. Is that the reason she lost the job? Probably not, but in the whole scheme of things, she is feeling the effects of what she wanted.

Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what?Perhaps the U.S.O. should pull out of Chicago?
Body count: In the last 12 months 500 killed (murdered) in Chicago.
221 killed in Iraq AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.
President: Barack Hussein Obama
Senator: Dick Durbin
House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Governor: Pat Quinn
House leader: Mike Madigan
Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Mayor: Rahm Emanuel
The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago .
Of course, they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.
And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us???
George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the big house.
Of course he was replaced by Rob Blajegovitch who is...that's right, also in the big house.
And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago.
That is because he is fighting being sent to...that's right, the big house.

You so carelessly think so?

The country, survivors and vets are still paying for the pain and suffering caused by that lying SOB LBJ and the Democrats.

I just quoted you.
I knew I could stir the pot with one of your crappy replys.

When all the talk was "Bengahzi", I brought it up that Bush started the Iraq War based on lies.
Your response was "old news",comrade Contango.
By the way, history expert, Eisenhower started the Vietnam war.

The country, survivors and vets are still paying for the pain and suffering caused by that lying SOB Bush and the Republicans.

@ 4shizzle:

Pres. Truman gave aid to the French. Both Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy provided military advisors to the South.

LBJ and the Democrats declared war against the North using fabricated intel.

70% of the U.S. population and Congress with necessary Democrat support approved the Iraq invasion. Guess to you, Colin Powell is also either stupid or a liar.

Try to stick to the topic the next time would ya?

Have a nice day Cupcake.

Wrong again winnie. Viet Nam wasn't a Declared war.

4shizzle actually I do think a few democrats must have also lied

“The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow.” — Bill Clinton in 1998

“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security.” — Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

“Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people.” — Tom Daschle in 1998

“I share the administration’s goals in dealing with Iraq and its weapons of mass destruction.” — Dick Gephardt in September of 2002

“Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.” — Al Gore, 2002

“There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein’s regime is a serious danger, that he is a tyrant, and that his pursuit of lethal weapons of mass destruction cannot be tolerated. He must be disarmed.” — Ted Kennedy, Sept 27, 2002

“I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force – if necessary – to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.” — John F. Kerry, Oct 2002

As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.” — Nancy Pelosi, December 16, 1998

“Even today, Iraq is not nearly disarmed. Based on highly credible intelligence, UNSCOM [the U.N. weapons inspectors] suspects that Iraq still has biological agents like anthrax, botulinum toxin, and clostridium perfringens in sufficient quantity to fill several dozen bombs and ballistic missile warheads, as well as the means to continue manufacturing these deadly agents. Iraq probably retains several tons of the highly toxic VX substance, as well as sarin nerve gas and mustard gas. This agent is stored in artillery shells, bombs, and ballistic missile warheads. And Iraq retains significant dual-use industrial infrastructure that can be used to rapidly reconstitute large-scale chemical weapons production.” — Ex-Un Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter in 1998

Notice all the 2002 dates?

Don't you think the leaders were influenced by Bush's modified intelligence report ( aka. lies) ?

Who would believe that a president would send thousands of American men and women into harms way to be maimed and die just for personal reasons?

KnuckleDragger

You wouldn't be referring to the tons of WMDs that we found while we were over there? You know, the ones that the media refused to report on despite having reporters embedded with the military units that found them? Hundreds of tons of mustard gas, chemicals to make nerve gas, and the missile components to mount them were found in various locations in Iraq, but were not reported on.
