Firelands Federal Credit Union robbed

Police still seeking suspect

The Firelands Federal Credit Union Monroeville branch was robbed this morning. Monroeville Police Chief Gary Lyons said a 911 call was received about 11 a.m..

Lyons would not reveal how many suspects they are searching for but said they have a couple of leads. Suspect is described as a white male, 5 foot 10 inches to 5 foot 11 inches with short cropped hair.

He is believed to be in his 40s or 50s. Lyons was not aware of the bank robber having any tattoos or scars.

The man fled in a brown older model four-door vehicle, possible an Alero.

Anyone with information is asked to call Monroeville police at 419-465-2345.

Monroeville police, Huron Sheriff, FBI agents and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation were on scene for about 4 hours.

I imagine the FDIC gets pretty mad when they have to replace anyone's money that was taken. No wonder all those men and women showed up. If my money was there, I would want all the people they could get to go after it too.

The FDIC only protects money in a bank. The NCUA protects money at a credit union. Just FYI :)

Yeah, that's not the 'government's money'. It's people's life savings, business accounts, etc. The government just has to replace it if it's stolen.
