Ms. Johnson should resign. She is obviously incapable of efficiently running the Erie County Clerk of Court's office. In my research of the clerk's office, I've found that the office is behind in collecting court costs, fees, etc. A person must go in and make a payment in order to get a tally of their remaining balance. Her office did not redact sensitive information such as social security numbers from the printouts at the terminals in her office (that may have changed since I was last in the office).
I understand the economy has caused many industries to slow down including the government. But what was Johnson's excuse for her inadequate handling of the clerk's office all the years prior to this recession?
In the last campaign she promised goals of modernizing her office. She stated she planned to attend a seminar on the subject. Well, it's been well over a year and we have yet to hear of any technological upgrades her office will be making.
She has not fulfilled her duties as the Erie County Clerk of Courts. Her filling system is more than subpar, it was better managed in the 1950s. She has not fulfilled her campaign promises. She has had 20 years to change that office for the better and has failed.
