A panel of law enforcement officials, health professionals, parents and others plan to participate in “Blindsided,” hosted by the Prevention Partnership Coalition through the county health department. The group will discuss emerging drug trends and the impact on the community.

The talks should expand beyond marijuana and alcohol abuse, as over-the-counter medications, household products and pharmaceuticals are all being abused, according to the health department.

Panel participants include Fremont police, Sandusky County deputies, the county coroner, juvenile court officials, a parent, and Firelands Counseling and Recovery Services representatives.

In addition to hitting on drug abuse trends, experts plan to offer parents tips on how to start a conversation with children about the dangers of drug abuse. The event will include a question-and-answer session. Anyone who plans to attend the March 12 forum is asked to send reservations to coalition coordinator Stacey Gibson by March 7.

She can be reached at 419-334-6395 or at sgibson@sanduskycohd.org.

The forum is 7-8:30 p.m. March 12 at Fremont Middle School, 1250 North St.
