Lorain woman injured when car struck by train

A Lorain woman suffered non-life threatening injuries Sunday afternoon when her car was hit by a Norfolk Southern train.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers investigating the crash said Miriam A. Matesic, 78, of Lorain, was crossing the railroad tracks along Oberlin Road in Amherst Township at 4:05 p.m. Sunday when her 2011 Ford Focus was struck by an oncoming train. 

Matesic was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center and later flown by medical helicopter to Cleveland Metro Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Drug and alcohol use are not suspected. Troopers are still investigating the crash.

No additional information was released about the crash as of Sunday night.
