NORWALK

Signs of the lean economic times are everywhere.

More people are visiting the local Job Stores to use the computer terminals to look for work.

More people are wandering the aisles of Goodwill and other thrift stores in search of discounted clothes.

More people are heading to the supermarket on the weekend to make meals at home rather than dine out.

All of these savings added up to $180 million. That's how much less people in Erie, Huron and Ottawa counties spent in 2009 than they did in 2008.
